Sights to see in Nara Palace Site Historical Park
Suzaku-mon Hiroba Square
Located on both sides of Suzaku-oji, this multipurpose area includes facilities where you can experience the history and culture of the Nara Palace Site, find sightseeing information, purchase gifts, find food and drinks, and enjoy yourself.
Heijokyu Izanai-kan (Guidance Center)
This facility provides information about the significance of Nara Palace Site Historical Park and guidance concerning its use. You can find a range of information designed to help you better enjoy the park, including a reconstruction of Heijo-kyo as it appeared 1,300 years ago, displays of artifacts that have been excavated at the site, and information about ongoing reconstruction projects.

Tempyo Umashi-kan (Restaurant and Cafe), Tempyo Mitsuki-kan (Shops),

These new sightseeing facilities offer information about sightseeing in Nara Prefecture along with gift shops, restaurants and cafes, an observation platform from which you can enjoy sweeping views of the Nara Palace Site, rental bicycles, and a transportation terminal.

This was the Nara Palace’s main gate. Government officials met and saw off envoys from other countries here, and crowds of people met to sing and dance. In addition, the emperor made his way here to celebrate the New Year.
